Highlighted Species: Spotted Lanternfly Lycorma delicatula Hemiptera: Fulgoridae
About:
The Spotted Lanternfly (“SLF”) is a planthopper native to China and Vietnam, which first appeared in Pennsylvania around 2014. This true bug is an excellent hitchhiker, which allowed its movement from across the ocean to the Atlantic coast. The SLF feeds on sap from the Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) but can also feed on plant juices from dozens of plant species, including economically important crops.
Design Notes:
This design features the white, spotted forewings of the SLF with a graphic pop of the red underwings peaking out.
